Bollywood icon SRK given Foxes shirt

World-famous Bollywood Star Shah Rukh Khan was presented with a Leicester City Football Shirt by Keith Vaz MP on last Saturday when he dropped into London to visit Parliament, receive the Global Diversity Award 2014 and headline the sell-out SLAM tour at the famous London O2 arena.

Mr. Khan is regarded as an iconic symbol of Indian cinema with millions of fans all over the world. He has featured in over 50 Hindi films and won numerous accolades including fifteen Filmfare Awards and eight Filmfare Best Actor awards which are the Bollywood equivalent of the Oscars. He also co-owns the cricket franchise The Kolkata Knight Riders who are part of the Indian Premiere League.

He was honoured with UNESCO’s Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for previous philanthropic endeavours and has performed at numerous charity and benefit concerts. He has raised millions of pounds for the underprivileged.

Keith Vaz MP who hosted his visit to Parliament said: “Shah Rukh Khan is one of those rare individuals who is loved by millions wherever he goes. He was delighted to receive the shirt and congratulated Leicester City F.C. on their recent successes.

Mr Khan commented during the event: "I am so impressed by the range of achievements of the Asians in the British community. On my first visit to England when I was 27 years old it was your dedication and hard work that inspired me to return home and work toward my own success.”
