A Blackburn-based business has been honoured with one of the UK’s most prestigious enterprise awards for its rapid international growth.

TT Instruments, trading as TechPlant Ltd, has been awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category. The award, approved by King Charles III, recognises outstanding achievement by UK businesses.

Founded in January 2021 by Muhammad Geloo and Aziz Bham, the company started from the back of a vehicle inspection garage in Blackburn with no investors, loans or previous industry experience. Just five years later, it has evolved into a multi-million-pound enterprise exporting precision instruments to more than 70 countries, with international customers accounting for the majority of its revenue.

The award recognises the firm’s rapid export growth, with overseas sales more than doubling over a three-year period. TT Instruments specialises in sourcing high-value equipment from UK corporate disposal cycles, refurbishing it and supplying it to engineers, researchers and organisations around the world. Its clients include global corporations, NHS teams and universities.

Operating with a team of six, the company has achieved year-on-year growth since launch without relying on external debt or government funding. It also follows a circular economy model, extending the lifespan of equipment that might otherwise go to waste.

The business is now focused on further expansion and sees significant opportunity in the large volumes of unused equipment still sitting in laboratories and facilities across the UK.
