Baroness Stowell says peers should retire at 80

Baroness Stowell of Beeston, the government's Leader of the Lords, suggested that elderly peers should resign at the age of 80, and peers with criminal convictions should now resign from the House of Lords.

It is said that the Baroness is conceptualising plans regenerate the Upper House so that the ancient institution is still “relevant to the world outside”.
