Aliyah Hasinah, a 21-year-old curator, producer and writer, seeks readers’ support to help increase the profile and visibility of fellow professionals, particularly those from Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic, or BAME communities. To help facilitate her progression Aliyah, from University of Birmingham, hopes to raise around £3,200, the breakdown for which she provides on her online fundraising page. So far she has raised just over £1,800. This will help fund her two-week Summer School programme in Barcelona.
Aliyah said: “I want to be a part of creating, speaking out and reimagining what a future of collective knowledge and support looks like.” She added: “There are currently very few black historians in the UK, and we need to move towards excepting more diverse voices. It is important that the voices involved in building these spaces are given the resource and agency to truly have ownership over our narratives.”
