Ameet Jogia has been re-selected as the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Hendon at the next General Election, pledging to build on his remarkable 2024 result and secure the north London constituency for the Conservatives.

Jogia came agonisingly close to victory at the last General Election, losing to Labour by just 15 votes — the narrowest margin in the country. His campaign defied expectations amid the Conservatives’ worst-ever General Election defeat, transforming a seat widely expected to deliver a comfortable Labour victory into one of the closest electoral contests nationally.

While the Conservative vote share fell by around 20 percentage points across the country, the decline in Hendon was limited to approximately 10 points, highlighting the strength of Jogia’s local campaign and the dedication of his volunteers and supporters.

Speaking to Asian Voice, Jogia said he was determined to build on the result and finish what his campaign had started.

“I am honoured to have been reselected. In 2024, we came within just 15 votes of winning. I am immensely proud of what our team achieved, but I have always seen that result as unfinished business. I am determined to finish the job we started and turn Hendon blue.”

Jogia currently serves as Chief of Staff to the Conservative Party, playing a key role in its organisational rebuilding under party leader Kemi Badenoch. He previously served as a senior political adviser to former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at 10 Downing Street before continuing in the Leader of the Opposition’s office following the 2024 election.

He also previously worked as a long-standing aide to former minister and trade envoy Lord Popat, building experience across Westminster and the wider Conservative Party.

A longstanding party member, Jogia has played a prominent role in strengthening ties between the Conservatives and British Indian communities. He helped establish and develop Conservative Friends of India into a leading Conservative affiliate group, contributing to efforts to deepen political engagement with the British Indian diaspora.

Beyond Westminster, Jogia serves as a councillor in Harrow and has undertaken several community and public service roles, including serving as a magistrate and school governor and supporting local community organisations.

His re-selection sets the stage for another closely watched contest in Hendon. Having come within a handful of votes of victory in 2024, Jogia will now seek to consolidate Conservative support, strengthen his local campaign and reach more residents as he prepares for the next General Election.
