24-year-old Haider Mailk bagged a job within three hours after standing outside Canary Wharf tube station with a sign and a handful of CVs. Initially when he decided, he was told by his friends that he would look silly and homeless, however, his father, Mehmood Malik, 67, a retired cab driver, believed in him.

With a first-class degree in banking and finance from Middlesex University London, Mr Malik has been searching for a job since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

While he was busy handing over the CVs, some unknown person took a photo of him and posted it on LinkedIn and that received a massive response. Then someone at the Canary Wharf Group then came across the post and Haider’s CV and pass it on to one of the company’s directors who called Mr Haider, of Ilford, for an interview.
After bagging a job, he described it as an incredible moment.

"I just felt like punching the air. It was such a weight off my shoulders,” he said.
