Police have identified the four men who died in the mid-air collision in Buckinghamshire on Friday 17th November 2017; two of them were young British Asian men.

18-year-old student Saavan Mundae was on a training flight with his instructor, Jaspal Barha, 27, when their Cessna 152 aircraft collided with a helicopter near Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild’s Buckinghamshire estate. Captain Michael Green, who worked for Helicopter Services Flying School in Aylesbury, had been flying the helicopter, taking passenger Thanh Nguyen, a Vietnamese national, on a sightseeing tour. It is said that the crash took place about 15 minutes after the aircraft took off from Wycombe Air Park. Post the crash, five fire engines and thirty firefighters had rushed to the scene.

Saavan Mundae was a first-year student at Buckinghamshire New University, studying BSc (Hons) Air Transport with Commercial Pilot Training and had only been flying for nine weeks. A statement from his university was released. “Saavan's tutors describe him as a young man who was respected by his peers and very considerate of others. He was a thoughtful student with a keen interest in his degree. Saavan made a very positive contribution during his time with us at Buckinghamshire New University. We offer our sincere sympathy to Saavan's family, friends and fellow students at this difficult time.”
