To mark this monumental moment in history, two Diabetes Consultants have once again collaborated with Revolve comics, supported by individuals living with type 1 diabetes, to produce ‘Generations’, the 4th and latest comic of the ‘Type 1’ series. Aimed at patients, the public and professionals, this free to read online issue takes the reader on a whirlwind tour of the last 100 years of insulin-related milestones in diabetes care.

The launch was deliberately planned to be on Tues 11th January 2022,  coinciding exactly 100 years to the day of that first insulin injection.

Previous comic books depicting in order- diagnosis, hospital admissions and stigma have been recipients of multiple national awards and made available free to the NHS and beyond.

Different people respond to being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in different ways – some like to talk it through, with others preferring to read books and leaflets to learn more.

Inspired by the legend that is Stan Lee and how he engaged so many young people with his creative allegories that would explore many issues in a fun way, this comic book series provides a means of spreading the type 1 diabetes message by using art.
