'I urge women from each community to encourage the youngsters to spread harmony, peace and brotherhood'

When these unfortunate events took place, I was out of town both times. As concerned, I called and spoke to a few people from each community, just to understand both sides of the story.  The cricket match is being used as an excuse. We have had such matches before too but Leicester was the least affected. We are creating a disgrace for our own community, a community who were so peaceful.

Today it feels like we have turned Leicester into India or Pakistan. If we read the comments and posts of the English people regarding what happened in Leicester, Most of them are commenting, “do not bring your local issues into our country, keep them back home where they belong and let us live in peace…” Speaking to the head of our forces and leaders it has been learned that many of the trouble makers or peace breakers had come from out of Leicester to create friction between communities.

The police have made over 50 arrests and will be coming out with reports soon. The city of Leicester has always been known as the most vibrant and peaceful city in Britain where people live in peace and harmony. A city which celebrates all festivals where people of every community attend the festivals. People have different faiths have been living as neighbours for decades and respect each other. Leicester is celebrating Navratri and Garba nights very peacefully with large numbers of people attending. Muslims, Sikhs and Christians attend the celebrations.

On Sunday the 9th of October Belgrave road and Melton road had Diwali lights switched on which was attended by people of all communities. It went very peacefully and was enjoyed by all. This proves a point that the communities of Leicester never have always and are united as one even to date. The troublemakers and haters came from out of Leicester and also many had taken the opportunity of spreading hate via social media, WhatsApp and other means.

The leaders of Hindu, Muslim and Sikh communities have condemned the haters who targeted Leicester and have shown their unity. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Jews and people of different faiths came to Leicester for Decades, where they faced many racial challenges, but united as one they fought racism. Today is our time to stand together and stop the haters who are trying to destroy our peace and cause friction between communities through evil acts.

United we Stand, divided we fall. We are grateful to our forces for their support and we stand by them at all times. We are so blessed to be in a country where our Late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s message has always been to “Unite people of all faith by bringing people together from around the world We are so proud of our King Charles who follows the same thoughts, He met the leaders of all faiths and told them he was determined as a King to preserve and promote those principles” Our elders migrated to Britain to build a safer and better future for us and the generations to come.

Let us keep their legacy and dreams alive, by maintaining peace, love, harmony and community cohesion…I can assure everyone we the people of Leicester are still united and Leicester is still the most peaceful city in Britain. We are proud to be British and proud of the United Kingdom. God bless all
