NICE (FRANCE): A French waitress was allegedly assaulted for serving alcohol during the holy month of Ramadan. A practicing Muslim from Tunisia, the woman was working her shift at the Vitis Café when she was reportedly insulted by two passers-by. The two men who were said to be of Muslim-origin, began abusing her when they saw her serving up alcohol to her customers.
The victim said one of the men called her a "whore" and even slapped her across the face, leaving her with a black eye. "On of them said to me in Arabic, 'You should be ashamed of yourself for serving alcohol during Ramadan. If I was God I would hang you'," the woman said to which she replied, "You're not God and you cannot judge me." "Degraded, humiliated, and sullied" by the incident, the woman said she had previously served alcohol in Tunisia without any issue. The attack was brought to the officials' notice and while the men have been identified using CCTV, they are yet to be located.
