Muhtar Kent – man behind Coca-Cola's success

Muhtar Kent serves as the global chairman of the board and global chief executive officer of Coca-Cola India Private Limited. Kent has been the chairman of the board at The Coca-Cola Company since April 23, 2009 and served as its chief executive officer since July 1, 2008 until April 30, 2017. Kent served as the president of the Coca-Cola Company until August 13, 2015. He served as executive vice president of Coca-Cola Co. since February 16, 2006 until December 2006 and served as its chief operating officer of North Asia Eurasia & Middle East Group from May 2005 to January 2006. He served as an unite president at The Coca-Cola Company from May 2005 to December 2006.

He served as the president of the Coca-Cola Company from December 2006 to June 2008 and as its chief operating officer from December 2006 to June 2008. He served as the president of Coca-Cola International from January 2006 to December 2006, where he was responsible for Coca-Cola operations outside North America. He served as president of North Asia Eurasia & Middle East Group of Coca-Cola Co., from May 2005 to 2006, where he had been responsible for its operations across a broad and diverse geographic region that included China, Japan and Russia.

He joined Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta in 1978 and held a variety of marketing and operations roles throughout his career. He served as the president and chief executive officer of Efes Beverage Group from 1999 to May 2005. He served as the president of Coca-Cola Co's East Central Europe division and senior vice president of Coca-Cola International, with responsibility for 23 countries from 1989 to 1995. He served as a managing director of Coca-Cola Amatil-Europe, covering bottling operations in 12 countries from 1995 to 1998 and served as a general manager of Coca-Cola Turkey and Central Asia since 1985.

Kent served as the chairman of US-China Business Council, Inc. and as its vice chairman. He served as a co-chairman and director of The Business Advisory Council for Southeastern Europe and Eurasia. He serves as a director of Catalyst, Inc. and Council on Foreign Relations, Inc. Kent has been a director of the Coca-Cola Company since April 16, 2008. Kent has been independent director of 3M Company since April 1, 2013. He serves as a director of Special Olympics, Inc./Special Olympics International. He has been a director of Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc. since September 2008. He has been a member of board of trustees at Center for Strategic and International Studies, Inc. since October 2008.

He serves as a trustee at Emory University. He served as a board member of Coca-Cola Icecek. He served as the president of the Coca-Cola Company. Kent is co-chair of The Consumer Goods Forum, a fellow of the Foreign Policy Association, a member of the Business Roundtable, a past chairman of the US-China Business Council and the chairman emeritus of the US ASEAN Business Council. He was also appointed as a member of the Eminent Persons Group for ASEAN by President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton. Kent holds bachelor of science in economics from the Hull University, England and master of science in administrative sciences from Cass Business School, City University London.
