Lakshmanan Meyyappan has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest male Chartered Accountant, achieving the feat in Dubai at just 16 years and 141 days.
His finance journey began during the Covid-19 pandemic after Class 10, when he started the ACCA qualification at 15 and completed it within a year. He later earned the CFA charter and is pursuing an MSc in Finance. Meyyappan now works as a Senior Research Analyst at Century Financial in Dubai, focusing on investment research and financial markets.
Meyyappan developed an interest in accounting during the Covid-19 lockdown, inspired by his mother, who is also an ACCA. He later pursued and completed the qualification himself.
He went on to earn the CFA charter and is now pursuing higher studies in finance. Outside academics, Meyyappan enjoys designing and building watches.
Meyyappan said his Guinness World Records achievement was meaningful, but he never viewed qualifications as a race. Instead, he focused on understanding finance and developing skills that would remain useful over time. His journey highlights how students can pursue professional qualifications early while gaining practical experience. His continued studies and work in finance also show the range of career paths beyond a traditional degree.
