BRUSSELS: Jet Airways has confirmed the identities of two Indians injured in the Brussels' suicide bomb blasts this week. Amit Motwani and Nidhi Chaphekar, both from Mumbai, are amongst those who fell victim to the inhuman attacks.

Officials from Jet Airways said they both were scheduled to board a flight bound for Newark, New Jersey. Motwani, a cabin supervisor, has been working with Jet since 2005 and, Chaphekar is a cabin manager with 15 years' experience, an airline official said. An image of Chaphekar with her bright yellow uniform ripped across her chest, her hair caked with soot and blood streaking down her face has become synonymous to the horror succeeding the blasts. Jet Airways manager in Brussels, Bernard Guisset said Nidhi has burns over 15 per cent of her body, and has a fractured foot, but is out of danger. Her family saw her photo and identified her. She was earlier put in a medically-induced coma. “We were searching though the internet to try and get details of the blasts when we saw the pics,” her brother-in-law Nilesh Chaphekar said. “The first reaction was 'she's alive. By God's grace she is alive.'”

Her image was shared over the world wide web and the hashtag #PrayForNidhi has been trending on Twitter. Meanwhile, Amit Motwani is being treated for injuries to his eye and ear. The explosion at the airport occurred a few minutes after the Jet Airways flight landed at Brussels. All passengers were on board and both crew members were assisting in de-boarding.

Tuesday’s bombings in the Brussels airport and subway killed 31 people and wounded 270.
