Lord Loomba and Cherie Blair meet Ivanka Trump at the GES 2017

Talk about widows’ empowerment globally and present her with World Widows Report

Lord Raj Loomba, the Chairman and Founder Trustee of the Loomba Foundation met Ivanka Trump at the Global Entrepreneur Summit 2017, in Hyderabad that highlighted the theme Women First, Prosperity for Alland focussed on supporting women entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth globally. The Advisor to the President of United States, Ivanka Trump headlined the United States delegation to the Summit.

Loomba Foundation’s President Cherie Blair started the second day with an interesting panel discussion titled, 'We can do it! Innovations in workforce development and skills training'. The panellists on the discussion were Chanda Kochhar, MD and CEO, ICICI Bank, Cherie Blair. The session was moderated by Karen Quintos of Dell.

Lord Loomba and Cherie Blair met Ivanka after the event and briefly discussed about the work done by the Loomba Foundation across twelve countries, and the Foundation’s focus on the 46 million widows in India, the largest number in any country in the world. Ivanka took a keen interest and was presented with the World Widows Report – a unique, complete, country by country, regional and global quantitative breakdown of data about widows, published by the Loomba Foundation.
The Report brings together disparate and inaccessible material from unusual and difficult to find sources, including in-depth studies in academic journals and reports by international development organisations.

The event was co-hosted in Hyderabad by the US and India, attended by 1,500 entrepreneurs, investors and eco-system supporters from 159 countries. Selected start-ups displayed their products while digital displays spoke about India's potential in various sectors.

Ivanka, heading the delegation from the US lauded Modi for "truly showing that transformational change was possible." GES is the preeminent annual entrepreneurship gathering that convenes emerging entrepreneurs, investors and supporters from around the world. GES 2017 will create an environment that empowers innovators, particularly women, to take their ideas to the next level. Through two and a half days of networking, mentoring and workshops, GES empowers entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas, build partnerships, secure funding, innovate and find their target customers – creating new goods and services that will transform societies.
