Rifco and Watford Palace Theatre presents three days celebrating the diverse talents and achievements within British Asian arts and culture in January.
Curated by actor and director, Ameet Chana, and Rifco’s Artistic Director, Pravesh Kumar, the festival will feature a diverse line-up of British film, theatre, art and comedy.
The festival kicks-off on Thursday evening with a screening of BAFTA Cymru winning Comedy Convenience, followed by a talk with Actor and Producer Ray Panthaki, hosted by Ameet Chana.
Friday’s line-up includes scratch performances of new writing from four Rifco Associates - the theatre company’s artist development scheme and later in the evening, the BBC Asian Network brings its Big Comedy Night to Watford. Breakfast show presenter, Tommy Sandhu hosts some of the biggest UK stand-up comedians and spotlights the hottest new talent including Hardeep Singh Kohli, In Cahoots, Sindhu Vee and Ahir Shah.
On Saturday, the vivacious MummyJi returns to the stage with her variety show MummyJi Presents…The Professionals. This time MummyJi is bringing audiences an extra special show for the festival, inviting some well-known names and celeb friends to join her for a chat in her living room. Throughout the festival, contemporary illustrator, Inkquisitive will be exhibiting his vibrant creations and the theatre will also host The Singh Project a collection of images by photographers Amit and Naroop.
The British Asian Festival runs from Thursday 21st January to Saturday 23rd January 2016 at Watford Palace Theatre.
