The historic Bilateral Trade Agreement between India and the United States has reached 99 per cent completion, with final text negotiations commencing in New Delhi.

Indian Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced the breakthrough, confirming that delegates are convening through June 4 to resolve the remaining technicalities of this landmark economic interim framework.

The high-level talks aim to significantly deepen economic security, streamline customs facilitation, boost investment promotion, and dismantle complex non-tariff barriers to enhance market access between the two global powers.

Led by Brendan Lynch, the Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia, and Darpan Jain, Additional Secretary in India's Department of Commerce, officials are actively finalising the legal text. Minister Goyal stated that the first phase of this long-awaited trade pact will be formally signed and announced very soon, which will immediately trigger subsequent conversations regarding a more comprehensive second phase.

By successfully concluding these substantive discussions, both nations are poised to secure an unprecedented diplomatic and corporate milestone that will fundamentally reshape international trade, bilateral business operations, and manufacturing supply chains across both hemispheres.
