The Indian archery contingent delivered a commanding performance at the Asia Cup-World Ranking Tournament Stage 1 in Bangkok, securing ten medals. This impressive haul, comprising two gold, four silver, and four bronze medals, surpassed the eight medals achieved at the previous edition.

The highlight of the day was a clean sweep in the men’s compound individual event, where 22-year-old Uday Kamboj defeated compatriot Prathamesh Jawkar 145-144 to claim his maiden international gold. Veteran Rajat Chauhan secured the bronze after a tense 145-144 victory over Thailand’s Peerawat Rattanapongkiat. Chauhan also partnered with Chikitha Taniparthi to win gold in the compound mixed team event, narrowly beating Malaysia 158-156. In the women’s section, 18-year-old Tejal Salve earned individual bronze, while the women’s compound team settled for silver after a close 227-229 loss to Kazakhstan. Despite the overall success, the recurve category saw no gold, with Ridhi Phor and the men’s team, consisting of Devaang Gupta, Sukhchain Singh, and Juyel Sarkarmboth finishing with silver medals.

This dominant showing, particularly in the compound events, underscores India’s growing depth and consistency on the continental stage as they prepare for a busy international season.
