Bihar’s teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi made cricket history by becoming the youngest player to score a century in men’s List A cricket.

At just 14 years and 272 days, the left-handed opener reached the milestone in only 36 deliveries during a Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh at the JSCA Oval in Ranchi. Suryavanshi eventually departed for a blistering 190 off 84 balls, an innings featuring 16 boundaries and 15 sixes, which powered Bihar to a world-record team total of 574 for 6.

The young star's record-breaking feat eclipsed the previous age record held by Pakistan's Zahoor Elahi, who was 15 years and 209 days old when he reached the landmark in 1986. Suryavanshi’s century was the second-fastest by an Indian in this format, trailing only the 35-ball effort by Punjab's Anmolpreet Singh in 2024.

During his onslaught, the teenager also shattered AB de Villiers' long-standing world record for the fastest 150 in List A cricket, reaching the mark in just 59 balls. The day proved historic for Bihar as captain Sakibul Gani also struck a 32-ball hundred, the fastest ever by an Indian.

Following their massive total, Bihar’s bowlers restricted Arunachal Pradesh to 177, securing a victory by 397 runs, the second-largest margin by runs in the history of the 50-over format. Suryavanshi, who was recently signed by Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, is now set to join the India Under-19 squad for a conditioning camp ahead of the World Cup in Zimbabwe starting January 2026.

His performance has further cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in global cricket.
