In a phone call, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed efforts to bolster the strategic partnership between their nations. The leaders expressed a shared desire to promote sustainable development and further deepen their already strong ties.

During the conversation, President Sheikh Mohamed extended his congratulations to Modi for becoming the second-longest serving prime minister in India's history. Prime minister Modi, 74, secured a third consecutive term in June 2024, surpassing the record of former prime minister Indira Gandhi. He now follows only Jawaharlal Nehru, who holds the record for the longest tenure.

The UAE and India share a long-standing friendship, with the UAE being home to more than 3.5 million Indian expatriates, the largest community of its kind in the country. This strong relationship has been further reinforced by recent agreements aimed at boosting economic ties.

In April, the two countries signed eight initial pacts spanning key sectors such as logistics, healthcare, infrastructure, and higher education. These preliminary agreements were signed during the official visit of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, to India and are designed to facilitate greater private sector engagement and cooperation. The leaders' recent conversation underscores a continued commitment to building on these successes and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
