Asia Cup: India thrash Pak by 7 wickets

Riding on fantastic performances from Suryakumar Yadav and spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav,India registered a convincing seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in a one-sided Asia Cup 2025 Group A league match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. After Pakistan skipper Salman Agha won the toss and opted to bat first, spinners Kuldeep (3/18) and Axar (2/18) helped India restrict Pakistan to 127 for nine in 20 overs. In reply, India completed the chase in 15.5 overs with skipper Suryakumar Yadav (47 not out off 37 balls), Abhishek Sharma (31 off 13) and Tilak Varma (31 off 31) making significant contributions. Brief scores: Pak 127/9 (20); India 131/3 (15.5).

Earlier, India opened its campaign with a commanding nine-wicket win over UAE on Wednesday. Put in to bat by Suryakumar Yadav, the hosts crumbled to 57 all out in 13 overs.. India chased down the target in 4.3 overs with the loss of Abhishek Sharma’s wicket. Shubman Gill (20 off 9 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (7 balls) remained unbeaten.

UAE on course for Super-Four berth Skipper Muhammad Waseem and Alishan Sharafu struck attacking half centuries to lead United Arab Emirates to a thumping 42-run win over Oman on Monday. Waseem, who hit 69, and Sharafu, who made

51, put on 88 runs for the opening wicket to guide hosts UAE to a challenging 172-5 in Abu Dhabi. The home bowlers then combined to dismiss Oman for 130 in 18.4 overs for their first win in the tournament. Medium-pace bowler Junaid Siddique stood out with figures of 4-23. Haider Ali and Muhammad Jawadullah took two wickets each.

Nissanka, bowlers star in Lanka’s victory

Pathum Nissanka (50) and Kamil Mishara (46 not out) made light work of a modest target to power Sri Lanka to a six-wicket win against Bangladesh in their Group B match on Saturday. After restricting Bangladesh to 139 for five, Lanka crossed the finish line with 32 balls and six wickets to spare to record a commanding win, making 140 for four in 14.4 overs.

Pakistan thump Oman by 93 runs

Wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Haris struck a fluent half-century to guide Pakistan to an emphatic 93- run win over minnows Oman in a Group AAsia Cup match on Friday. Opting to bat, Pakistan rode on Haris’ 63 off 43 balls to score 160 for seven. In reply, Oman had a disastrous start as they lost skipper Jatinder Singh and Aamir Kaleem early to be bundled out for 67 in 16.4 overs.
