Jadeja’s shines bright in narrow defeat at Lord's

Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten at 61 off 181 balls at non-striker's end as India were bundled out on 170 while chasing 193 runs in the third Test match against England at Lord's. With this win, England takes 2-1 lead in the five-Test match series of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.

The last day of the third Test match started with India requiring 135 runs and England having to pick six wickets after setting the visitors a 193-run target. The day favoured England as they picked up four wickets before lunch but were made to work hard for the remaining two wickets in the last two sessions. India lost the big wickets of Rishabh Pant (9), KL Rahul (39), Washington Sundar (0), and Nitish Reddy (13) in the first session to hand England the advantage.

Jadeja was batting to steer India over that elusive victory target of 193 set by England on Sunday. No one would have thought the match would stretch beyond tea. But it did. In the end, Bumrah played 54 balls for five runs and later Mohammed Siraj played 30 balls and bridged the gap to just 22 runs. And just when hopes glistened and danced in the distance in the afternoon sun, Siraj got out. The two along with Jadeja batted for more than two-and-a-half hours. Lord's, the home of cricket, couldn't have asked for more. Jadeja's heroics with valuable support from Siraj and Bumrah made sure they didn't go down without a fight.
