Hatfield, April 6, 2025 – Under clear blue skies, the picturesque Mill Green Golf Club, Hertfordshire provided the perfect setting for the much-anticipated East African Asians (EAA) Golf Day. While 55 golfers enjoyed a day of friendly competition, the true highlight was the soft launch of a landmark digital initiative - the East African Asians Web Portal - dedicated to preserving the migration stories, cultural heritage, and global contributions of the East African Asian community.
This visionary project was initiated by Harshad Kothari, a Chartered Accountant born in Tanzania, whose passion for history and heritage sparked the creation of this remarkable portal. From its inception, Harshad has been supported by key early advisors including Dhiren Doshi (Founder, Doshi Outsourcing), entrepreneur Tony Matharu, and former Conservative MP Shailesh Vara. Over the course of many collaborative meetings, the initiative has steadily built momentum, culminating in this celebratory launch.
Following the tournament, an elegant evening reception brought together 180 distinguished guests, including a host of prominent figures and community leaders. Notable attendees included, H.E. Nimisha Madhvani, Uganda’s High Commissioner to the UK; Rt Hon. Shailesh Vara, former MP and Cabinet Minister; CB Patel, Chairman, Asian Voice & Gujarat Samachar; Tony Matharu, Entrepreneur and Chairman of ABA-LCCI; Dr Bhikhu Patel, Co-founder of Global pharmaceutical company, Waymade Healthcare; Sanjay Anand, Madhu’s; Subhash Thakrar OBE; Nina Amin MBE; Jaffer Kapasi OBE; Ranjit Baxi FRSA, and many other esteemed business leaders and professionals.
Guests were treated to a memorable experience featuring fine hospitality, including drinks, canapés, a gourmet three-course dinner, trophy presentations, and a spirited fundraising raffle. A highlight of the evening was an inspiring presentation of the Web Portal by Harshad Kothari, which was met with enthusiastic applause and deep appreciation.
“This platform is more than a digital archive – it is a living, evolving tribute to the resilience, achievements, and enduring spirit of East African Asians across the world,” said Harshad during his keynote address.
The event’s success was made possible through the generous support of its sponsors, whose contributions helped bring the celebration to life.
As the initiative continues to gain traction, Harshad is now joined by a growing global team of Advisors, Ambassadors, Promoters, Supporters, and Volunteers. However, significant work remains to fully realize the portal’s potential. The project is currently seeking assistance in areas such as content creation, historical research, portal and social media management, and sponsorship.
The full public launch of the Web Portal is planned for later this year, subject to continued support. Members of the East African Asian community are warmly invited to be part of this meaningful journey.
