Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has announced its plans to commission a new energy Giga complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat, during the latter half of 2024, as stated in the company's earnings report. Spanning across 5,000 acres, the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex includes five Giga factories dedicated to photovoltaic panels, fuel cell systems, green hydrogen, energy storage, and power electronics.
“On track to commence new energy facilities in phases this year," the company said.
Post third-quarter earnings announcement, RIL chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani said that the “New Energy Giga Complex is all set to be commissioned in the second half of CY24. I am confident that Reliance's New Energy business will play a pivotal role in the global movement for adoption of cleaner fuels."
The company has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government to establish a 100-gigawatt renewable power facility with a capital expenditure of ₹5 lakh crore. Additionally, it has secured preliminary approval for 74,750 hectares of land in Kutch for its green hydrogen project.
The Giga complex is set to become one of the world's largest integrated renewable energy manufacturing facilities.
