Maruti to invest Rs 35,000 crore to set up second plant in Gujarat

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is planning a significant investment of Rs 35,000 crore to establish its second manufacturing facility in Gujarat. This move is part of the company's strategy to boost annual production capacity to over 4 million units by the fiscal year 2030-31, according to Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corporation.

Addressing the audience at the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS), Suzuki stated that the new plant is designed to have an installed production capacity of 1 million units per year.

"We will invest Rs 35,000 crore for the construction of a second car plant in Gujarat which would produce another one million units per year," Suzuki said.

The new plant is expected to start operation in FY2028-29. Details of location and the models to be produced will be shared in due course.
