Nine more suspects have been apprehended by the police in connection with the recent communal rioting in Navapura. Following the outbreak of violence two days ago, authorities had already booked over 20 individuals involved in stone pelting and rioting, with 11 arrests made within the initial 24-hour period.

Investigations are underway to determine whether the accused had premeditated the rioting or if they were incited by external influences. The unrest in the Navapura area stemmed from a communally provocative social media post by an individual named Sahid Patel, resulting in clashes and stone pelting between mobs representing two different communities on Thursday night.

About three individuals sustained injuries and several vehicles were damaged during the incident, which took place adjacent to the Navapura police station amid a gathering of approximately 150 people. The altercation stemmed from a provocative comment made by Sahid Patel during a live video on Instagram by Jatin Patel, who operates a mobile accessories shop on Rajmahal Road, on February 12.

Jatin Patel subsequently went to the Navapura police station to file a complaint, accompanied by his friends. As more of Patel's associates arrived at the station, tensions escalated. Suddenly, around 150 individuals from the opposing community emerged from Khatkivaad lane and began pelting stones, further fueling the communal unrest. Police present at the scene responded with a lathi-charge to disperse the mob around 1 am.
