The old railway station in Karamsad, Sardar Patel's hometown, will undergo major revamp from February 26th. This initiative, under the Gati Shakti Amrit Yojana, aims to modernise the station at a cost of £713,000, improving facilities and connectivity for the town.
Anand's grade A railway station lacks basic facilities. Redevelopment plans for Vadodara Mandal stations, costing £15.5 million, and construction of ROB-RUB, totaling £61.8 million, aim to address this. With an additional £77.3 million allocated, modern amenities will be provided for passengers, fostering local development and ensuring comfortable train journeys.
In the initial phase of the scheme, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for seven Mandal stations on August 6, 2023, initiating rapid progress. In the second phase, scheduled for February 26, 2024, the Prime Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of eight additional stations in the Mandal, including Kim, Kosamba, Sayan, Utaran, Ankleshwar, Godhra, Karamsad, and Kheda railway stations in Mehmedabad.
Installation of Sardar Patel statue
Karamsad is set to undergo a significant transformation, featuring a sprawling campus, modern entrance, upgraded seating arrangements, clean drinking water facilities, advanced ticketing counters, ample vehicle parking, and sturdy platform structures. In addition, the installation of a massive iron statue of Sardar Patel, along with a 100-metre-long, 6-metre-high wall towards GIDC, has been completed. Furthermore, facilities such as accessible platforms and modern toilets for the disabled are being constructed. The railway system is currently operational, marking a milestone in the town's development.
