Forty two women mutual fund managers are managing total assets worth £66.6 billion. The representation of women fund managers has marginally declined, but their performance has been impressive, with the majority outperforming their peers.
While the number of women mutual fund managers in the industry remains the same at 42, the total assets under the management (AUM) has increased by 50% year-on-year to £66.6 billion.
The total assets managed/co-managed by women fund managers increased by 50% from £44.4 billion last year. Meanwhile, the AUM managed by women fund managers of open-ended and closed-ended funds was £527.4 billion or 12.63% of total assets.
Out of the total fund managers of around 473 in the mutual fund industry, 42 are women who are managing funds either as primary or secondary managers. The total number of fund managers has increased from 428 in the last year, but the number of women fund managers has been static. The representation of women fund managers marginally declined from 9.18% last year to 8.88%.
These 42 women fund managers were spread across 21 fund houses. Five fund houses had three or more women fund managers, five fund houses had two women fund managers, and 11 fund houses had at least one women fund manager.
The report also highlights that the number of women fund managers have increased over the years. From 18 women fund managers in 2017, the figure surged to 42 in 2023 and remained the same in January 2024.
