‘Jailer’ producer Kalanidhi Maran, owner of the Sun Group, has gifted a BMW x7 worth £124,000 to superstar Rajinikanth as the movie crossed £60 million at the global box office. A leading film trade analyst posted a picture and a video of Maran gifting the car to Rajini. The actor was dressed in his signature white kurta-pyjama while receiving the key to the car.
The superstar was reportedly offered the choice of picking between a BMW x7 or BMW i7. He opted for the less expensive car. The trade analyst also revealed that Kalanidhi had requested the actor to do another film with Sun Pictures after the superstar completes ‘Thalaivar 171,’ his Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial.
The development comes on the day the actor was announced as the “highest paid actor in India.” The same trade analyst tweeted earlier in the day, “Info coming in that, the envelope handed over by Kalanidhi Maran to superstar Rajinikanth contains a single cheque amounting £10 million from City Union Bank, Mandaveli branch, Chennai. This is a Jailer profit sharing cheque, which is up and above the already paid remuneration [£11 million] of the superstar for the movie. Total – £21 million. Making superstar Rajinikanth the highest paid actor in India.”
‘Jailer’ also stars Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff in key roles. The music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
