Hollywood celebrities Maisie Williams, Freida Pinto and others arrived in Mumbai to attend the Dior show at the Gateway of India. The French fashion house’s Fall 2023 ready-to-wear collection showcased the excellence of Indian craftsmen. Those from the west include Poorna Jagannathan, ‘Bridgerton’ stars Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran, Cara Delevigne, and Liza Koshy.
Sonam Kapoor and Anushka Sharma were spotted in the front row, as were Isha Ambani, Radhika Merchant, Mira Rajput and Virat Kohli. Other Indian actresses in attendance included Karisma Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Diana Penty, and Khushi Kapoor.
Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri has been working for many years with artisans from India through the Mumbai-based Chanakya School of Craft, and she thought it was time to showcase India’s incredible range of embroidery and fabrics to an international audience.
She posted a long letter of appreciation on her Instagram page, thanking Chanakya’s founders for their commitment to “preserving India’s history and culture, portrayed by each embroidery technique.”
