The CBI is said to have registered a preliminary inquiry (PE) to look into the alleged "irregularities and misconduct" by yet-to-be-identified public servants of the Delhi government, launching a criminal investigation into the claims of corruption in the construction of a new residential block for chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The probe agency has asked the PWD of the Delhi government to hand over all documents pertaining to the alleged irregularities by October 3. The sources revealed that the documents sought by the CBI include tender details, note sheets, bidding documents, payment records, guidelines that were laid down and a “request from client” document.
AAP claims vendetta
Calling CBI’s move vendetta, AAP said nothing came out of previous investigations conducted against the CM and he would come out clean this time too. After imprisoning former deputy CM Manish Sisodia and former health minister Satyendar Jain, the party claimed that the BJP was making a "desperate attempt" to damage its reputation; it had now shifted its focus to Kejriwal and had so far registered more than 50 cases against him.
Welcoming the inquiry, BJP claimed there had been violations in the renovation and it’ll be revealed on whose instructions it was done.
