Netflix has made up its mind to put an end to password sharing in 2023 once and for all. Anyone who wants Netflix access will be asked to pay for it.

According to the company, over 100 million Netflix viewers consume the service using passwords borrowed from friends and family. This will not be the case anymore in 2023 where the company will ask people to pay up for sharing accounts. The United States may be used as the testing ground for the decision.

In a few Latin American countries, Netflix has already started testing additional fees charging around $3 extra for password sharing.
In these countries, the actual subscriber has to provide a verification code to anyone outside the household wanting to access the account and the code obviously doesn’t come free. Netflix repeatedly prompts the outside user asking for the code.
