The government of Karnataka has mandated a seven-day home quarantine for travellers arriving at Bengaluru International Airport from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand. The Centre had already made RT-PCR tests a must for flyers from these designated high-risk countries.
According to the state's updated regulations, travellers arriving from these countries will be checked to make sure they are Covid-negative before being permitted to leave the airport grounds. The guidelines also state that if any international travellers from these nations are discovered to be symptomatic, they must be immediately isolated, taken to the designated medical facility (public or private), and if they test positive, samples must be collected and submitted for RT-PCR testing and genome sequencing.
"Other asymptomatic passengers shall leave the airport and self-monitor their health for Covid symptoms and comply with Covid appropriate behaviour (CAB) like wearing of face masks, social distancing, practice respiratory and hand hygiene, etc, and strictly remain under home quarantine for next seven days," the guidelines read.
It further warned that people should self-isolate and report to the local monitoring team for testing if they have symptoms including fever, cough, cold, body ache, loss of taste and smell, diarrhoea, and breathing difficulties. After seven days, if the genome sequencing report shows BF.7 or a new subvariant/variant, a new sample must be collected for RT-PCR, and the subject must then adhere to CAB until the results are known.
