Facial recognition system at Tirupati temple

The Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirupati will be using the facial recognition system of devotees from March 1. The mechanism is being used to enhance transparency in darshan and lodging allotment, according to the official website of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Through the technology, it aims to provide more effective services to the thousands of pilgrims visiting the shrine. The system is expected to be launched on a pilot project basis. According to TTD, the facial recognition technology would also be employed at the "Sarva Darshan Complex and caution deposit return kiosks" to stop worshippers from obtaining more tokens.
