Karan Johar’s upcoming romantic comedy ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ is gearing up for its long-awaited release in cinemas. Ahead of the premiere, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has issued the movie a U/A certificate. However, it came at the cost of certain cuts and changes.

KJo’s directorial comeback after seven years, the movie is releasing in his 25th year as a filmmaker. Co-produced by his Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios, the movie stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi, among others.

According to a media report, the CBFC has enforced certain cuts and alterations in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ before issuing a U/A certificate.

The changes include changing the word ‘bra’ to ‘item,’ replacing a cussword and replacing the name of a popular alcohol brand. Three dialogues were cut off, including a reference to Lok Sabha and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and a lingerie shop scene that was deemed to be “vulgar” and “degrading” to women. A scene with a Rabindranath Tagore reference that featured in the film’s trailer as well has been reportedly altered. ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’s final runtime is now said to be two hours and 48 minutes.
