Netflix launched the first season of ‘Indian Matchmaking’ in 2020, which followed Mumbai-based matchmaker Sima Taparia and her clients. One of her clients, entrepreneur Pradhyuman Maloo rose to internet fame for rejecting 150 marriage proposals and having high expectations about the girl he would marry. He reappeared on the second season after finding a partner off-screen, in actor-model Ashima Chauhaan, in 2022.
The two tied the knot in a lavish wedding in Udaipur in February 2022. Now, in a new media report, it is now alleged that Ashima has registered an FIR against Maloo for allegations of domestic violence. According to reports, Ashima left their home in September 2022 and claims to have endured physical and emotional abuse by her husband and his family. She also alleged that her family was subjected to blackmail and harassment.
The report quoted Chauhaan’s advocate Anmol Bartaria as saying, “The allegations with FIR lodged are grave and concerning with domestic violence and constant mental, physical abuse at its core. The matter is in the investigative stage and should be carried in full swing. Ashima is in the process of taking appropriate legal proceedings against the accused in accordance with law.” Bartaria said Chauhaan bears trauma and currently remains with her family in Bengaluru.
The report also quoted Maloo as saying, “I don’t know about it. To the best of my knowledge we are in settlement talks with lawyers to resolve our martial issues amicably.”
