Mythological film 'Adipurush's' producers responded to the film's harsh criticism after its premiere by announcing that they will change some of the dialogue and release fresh versions of the movie.
Om Raut’s adaptation of the Ramayana stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh and Devdutta Nage.
'Adipurush' has received trolling on social media for Manoj Muntashir Shukla's gangster film-style dialogue, the overuse of visual effects, and it’s casting decisions even though the Hindi production and its dubbed versions have posted impressive box office numbers.
In a statement, producer T-Series and Retrophiles stated: “Adipurush is garnering an overwhelming response across the world and is conquering hearts of audiences across all ages. Making this visual spectacle a memorable cinematic experience, the team decides to make alterations to the film’s dialogues – valuing the input of the public and the audience. The makers are revisiting the said dialogues, ensuring to resonate with core essence of the film and the same will reflect in the theatres in the next few days. This decision is a testament that in spite of unstoppable collections at the box office, the team is committed and nothing is beyond the sentiments of their audiences and harmony at large.”
Nepal bans Hindi films
As a result of controversy over the dialogue in "Adipurush," which referred to Sita as "India's daughter," Nepal prohibited the screening of all Hindi films. In Kathmandu, police were stationed in 17 venues to make sure that no Hindi films were shown. Last week, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah said no Hindi film will be allowed to run in Kathmandu Metropolitan City until the dialogue "Janaki is a daughter of India" in "Adipurush" is removed not just in Nepal but also in India. Sita, also referred to as Janaki, is believed by many to have been born in Janakpur in southeast Nepal.
