Twelve pilgrims from Gujarat's Bhavnagar area were killed and many others injured when a 10-wheeler trailer collided with their halted bus on the Agra-Jaipur National Highway. The bus, carrying 57 passengers, was on its way to Mathura in UP when the accident took place near Hantra in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan early in the morning.

Due to the impact of the event, 11 people passed away immediately, while one woman died while receiving medical attention at the hospital. Seven of the deceased were women. The bodies were scattered on the side of the highway.

Police reached the spot after being alerted by passing motorists. The injured were rushed to hospital. The trailer driver has been arrested. The bus was halted in the middle of a flyover as the bus' diesel tank pipe had ruptured. After learning that the repairs would take an hour, many people got off the bus and were sitting by the side of the road. All the victims belonged to Dihor village in Bhavnagar. The pilgrims had hired the private bus and embarked on the tour on September 9.
