The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS), the state government of Gujarat's premier investment summit, is scheduled to be held from January 11–13, 2024, after a five-year hiatus, according to top state government sources. The last edition of VGGS took place in 2019, during which some 28,360 MoUs were signed, which include MoUs worth at least £10 billion inked in the renewable energy sector.
The state government is actively making preparations to host the summit. The state administration is putting the finishing touches on the final framework for the strategy to advance VGGS 2024. The advertising campaign is anticipated to start in July.
The state officials will be holding road shows in key metropolitan cities as well as state capital cities,” said a top government official.
VGGS was slated to take place after Covid in January 2022. However, the state authorities had abruptly postponed decision. Notably, at that time, the Omicron variant-driven increase in Covid-19 cases coincided with increased tensions between Ukraine and Russia.
However, the state administration is fully geared up to host the event this time around. Two high-level meetings chaired by the state chief secretary have already been held to plan for the event, according to sources privy to the development.
The US, UK, Japan, Germany, Netherlands, along with Gulf nations and African nations, will all be contacted to participate in the mega investment summit's 10th iteration, according to sources.
The state government has earmarked a budget of £12.7 million to promote VGGS 2024. “Key discussions are also being held with the Union government officials for their inputs on the shape of the event. The regular format of business-to-business meetings, country seminars and discussions will continue,” the official further added.
