Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was interrogated by the CBI for around nine hours as part of its investigation into alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the excise policy 2021–2022.
He was asked a range of questions pertaining to allegations of extension of post-tender benefits to individuals and his statement recorded. He may be summoned again, if required, for further clarifications. “The statement will be verified and collated with the available evidence,” a CBI spokesperson added.
Soon after his questioning got over, he told reporters he had answered all the questions and reiterated that the “entire alleged liquor scam was false and bad politics. AAP is a ‘ kattar imaandaar party’ (Hardcore honest party). They want to end the AAP but the country’s people are with us. ”
BJP instructed CBI to arrest me: Kejriwal
Kejriwal asserted that the BJP "instructed" the CBI to detain him. He claimed in a 5-minute morning video message: "Since yesterday, all BJP officials have been screaming at the top of their lungs that Kejriwal will be arrested, and I think BJP has told CBI to arrest Kejriwal. Who is CBI if the BJP has issued a directive? The authorities will detain me.
He added: “I have been summoned by CBI today and I will answer all questions honestly. They can send anyone to jail. It does not matter if a person has committed any crime or not.” He claimed that had he been corrupt, he would have never quit his job as a commissioner in the I-T department to work in the jhuggis of Delhi at a time when the thought of becoming chief minister had not even crossed his mind.
