Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific, has recently concluded a three-day visit to India, during which two new technology initiatives were formalized to enhance the quality of life and address climate change challenges.
Trevelyan's visit to Tamil Nadu, in southern India, aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between the UK and India by focusing on environmental cooperation and exploring cutting-edge technologies, particularly in the realm of climate innovation. During her visit, the minister announced two new technology partnerships with India designed to address global sustainability issues and promote collaborative UK-India business innovation.
Her trip included visits to key institutions, such as the National Institute of Ocean Technology, where she gained insights into India's deep-sea programs, marine systems, and vessel management. Additionally, she met with the Secretary of Tamil Nadu's Environment, Forest, and Climate Change department to further discuss the UK's partnership with the state on climate issues, including the Climate Compatible Growth Programme.
At Anna University's Climate Studio, she had the opportunity to review innovative climate modelling systems used for weather forecasting and rainfall prediction.
