In October 2021, Cordelia drug case involving superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, the Indian Revenue Service official Sameer Wankhede and three other people were charged with corruption by the CBI for allegedly receiving Rs 50,00,000 from the actor.

The actor allegedly paid Wankhede and the others a total of £2.5 million to clear the actor's kid of narcotics possession accusations. The CBI has searched 29 places, including Wankhede's residence in Goregaon West, in Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi, Lucknow, and Chennai. Wankhede referred to it as retaliatory action since he had reported a senior NCB official for harassment.

He said, “I am a disciplined official of the government of India. I will fight the legal battle and have complete faith in the judiciary.” Wankhede was western region head of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and headed the probe into the case against Aryan Khan. The other accused in the case include intelligence officer Ashish Ranjan, dismissed superintendent Vishwa Vijay Singh, and two individuals, Kiran Gosavi and Sanvile D’Souza also known as Sam D'Souza, who were being used as witnesses or informers. Singh and Ranjan were part of the probe team. Singh was dismissed for misconduct in another case in which he was under suspension.

Ranjan was additionally suspended for allegedly failing to make a compelling argument before a judge hearing an accused's request for bail in a different narcotics case. In the drug case, Gosavi served as a panch witness. Gosavi had a phone conversation with Sam D'Souza about making a claim for £2.5 million, according to his security Prabhakar Sail.
