The Karnataka cabinet decided to revoke sanction given to the CBI by the erstwhile BJP government to investigate a disproportionate assets case against deputy CM D K Shivakumar, terming it "unlawful" based on legal opinion from the current advocate general and his predecessor. Shivakumar wasn't present at the cabinet meeting that took the decision. State law and parliamentary affairs minister HK Patil said the Congress cabinet withdrew sanction to the CBI after due diligence.
