On the 81st anniversary of the Quit India movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a new onslaught on the opposition. In a tribute to the Quit India Movement participants, the prime minister called for an India free of dynastic politics and corruption.
“Today, India is saying in one voice: Corruption Quit India. Dynasty Quit India. Appeasement Quit India," he wrote. Quit India Movement, also known as the “Bharat Chodo Andolan”, was launched by Mahatma Gandhi on August 9, 1942.
In the meantime, the BJP said that it will start the "Quit India" campaign against the opposition group and stage a protest later in the day. Prime Minister Modi had, while speaking after laying the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations in 27 states and UTs via video conferencing, strongly criticised "corruption, dynasty rule and appeasement" stating that the whole country is rooting for these "evil forces to quit India".
The Prime Minister declared that August 9 was "the day that the historic 'Quit India' started. Mahatma Gandhi had provided the slogan, and the Quit India Movement inspired by this gave new life to India's efforts to gain its freedom. Today, the entire nation is shouting, "For every evil, quit India."
