Former IFS Officer of the 1998 batch Upender Singh Rawat has been appointed as India's new High Commissioner to Uganda. He is currently serving as the ambassador of India to Panama. Rawat is expected to take up the assignment shortly. He graduated from IIT Kanpur. Before joining the government of India, he worked as a physics instructor. After joining the IFS, he served in various capacities. He started as the third secretary at the Embassy of India, Buenos Aires where he also learned Spanish. Rawat has served in Indian diplomatic missions in Slovakia, UK and Mexico. He also worked as deputy chief of mission in the Indian embassy in South Korea. He has also worked in MEA, New Delhi as joint secretary in charge of the consular, passport, and visa division and desk officer on consular, and extradition matters.
Shilpak N Ambule appointed High Commissioner to Singapore
Dr Shilpak N Ambule, an IFS officer of batch 2002 presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Singapore. He has been in charge of the Ministry of External Affairs' East Asia Division, which includes China, and is said to be External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's main aide. Dr Ambule's appointment comes at a time when India and Singapore are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations. The two countries have close economic, political, and cultural ties. Dr Ambule is a career diplomat with over 25 years of MEA experience.
Nitin Agarwal appointed BSF Director General
Kerala cadre (1989-batch) IPS officer Nitin Agarwal was appointed as the new director general of the Border Security Force (BSF). The post of BSF chief has been vacant for more than five months after Pankaj Kumar Singh retired on December 31, 2022. Agarwal is currently posted as the Additional DG of operations at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) headquarters in Delhi.
Shubhdarshini Tripathi is new envoy to Serbia
Shubhdarshini Tripathi, IFS Officer of the 1994 batch and presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Serbia.
Nilakshi Saha Sinha- new Georgia envoy
Nilakshi Saha Sinha, presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Armenia, has been concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to Georgia, with residence in Yerevan.
Shri Vipul- new Qatar envoy
Shri Vipul (IFS 1998) presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the State of Qatar.
