ED calls Trinamool leader Abhishek for questioning

Kolkata: Enforcement Directorate summoned Trinamool general secretary Abhishek Banerjee for questioning in the cash-for-jobs case at its Salt Lake office on September 13, the day he was scheduled to attend a meeting of the INDIA bloc in Delhi.

Slamming the ED action as an example of Centre’s fear of the opposition bloc, the TMC member posted on X: “FIRST meet of INDIA’s coordination committee is on 13th September in Delhi, where I am a member. But, Enforcement Directorate conveniently served me a notice just now to appear before them on the very same day! One can’t help but marvel at the timidity and vacuousness of the 56-inch chest model. #FearofINDIA”, he posted on X.

Abhishek had earlier moved Calcutta HC, seeking to quash an ED complaint linking him with the cash-for-jobs scam, following which the agency had verbally informed the court that it would not take any coercive step against him. He was scheduled to attend the first 14-party coordination committee meeting of the INDIA bloc at Sharad Pawar’s Delhi home on Wednesday. ED has not commented on the latest development yet.
