Anish Chauhan Coaching which evolved from AC Fitness is as refreshing a wellness concept as it sounds. Founder and friendly personal trainer, Anish, combines life coaching with physical fitness to boost one’s lifestyle via the specific lynchpin of measurable weight-loss. His franchise goes beyond counting the calories to help you intentionally find yourself. This means that “the program is one of personal development,” Anish shared, “wherein losing weight is often simply the desired byproduct. People who solely focus on physical fitness are far less likely to be able to maintain the long-term goals set around it. By contrast, those who make weight loss part of their bigger personal vision are more likely to succeed.”

The logic certainly checks out. If one embarks on a superficial journey, the results will be just so. However, discover the meaning behind what you’re chasing and the change can also be profound. Anish is there to facilitate this deeply healthy process of unique self-discovery: “people do tend to lose a few pounds with the standard fitness training programs but those who throw themselves entirely emotionally in can lose a few Kgs!” Anish Chauhan Coaching then helps one identify significant life goals, anchoring them in physical workouts, productive organisation, nutrition and beyond. Perhaps you want a better job, a strong romantic relationship or more time with family and friends? Often an initial consultation will be centred on teasing these individual underlying dreams out. The weight-loss organically follows as the result of such complete commitment to self-care.

“Generally, clients want to be a better version of themselves. I will ask people to visualise what losing weight looks like to them: what kind of life the ‘new them’ will manifest. From wanting to be some kind of influential role model to insecurities around hereditarily informed health and what this could adversely affect, every person has that hidden higher purpose.” For this reason, Anish’s programs are further tailored to suit the respective client’s needs, providing synergetic bespoke schedules and helpful self-development videos as well as a sympathetic ear to lean on along the way.

“It is about what you can do within your complex confines. You may want to get fit and evolve as a human being but having a demanding 9-5 job which ends up being a 7-7 may not easily allow room for that. You may not be able to rigorously watch your meals or do 10,000 steps a day. We will design doable fitness steps across a general 12-step plan so that reaching your goals is realistic for you. You may gently regulate the times you eat or get out to the park at lunchtime more often. You’ll have the chance to check-in on progress through regular one-to-one sessions with me too.”

In this way, Anish helps to imbue his clients with a sense of agency one small yet cumulative step at a time. Combining proactivity, the power of perception and authentic interpersonal support, Anish emerges an epitome of the contemporary life coach. Indeed, operating the business largely online through social media, one of his success stories lost 18 Kg over the course of 6 and a half months without once setting foot in the gym! “She simply walked more and better watched her diet. The self-discipline came from increased confidence in personal life: she was setting boundaries with people in a way that she had never, standing up for herself etc.”

Indeed, people often lose track of fitness when they lose faith in themselves. If one is truly content, they do not need to over-compensate, by, for example, binge-eating, overly control, by slimming dangerously, or even self-neglect. “Many of my clients are incredible at their jobs: they are top earners financially and loved by many. It’s the inner emotional side that needs some exercise and mindful work.” Anish Chauhan Coaching shows us that the ultimate motivator is feeling your fundamental worth.

What is a recurring theme in the fitness visualisations?

It is dependent on age. Younger clients, say those in their early thirties, wish to do well at a job interviews or clinch the desired career. Older clients want to maximise time with partners and children and achieve a better work/life balance.

What are some helpful mottos that you have lived by?

If you say you are going to do something: do it! If you make a decision, stand by it. Everything starts off with a thought which leads to a feeling of some kind and the result is your choice around that. If someone wants to lose 10kg over 12 weeks, for example, but they do not stick to the organisation that represents this on a daily basis, they shouldn’t be surprised that it does not manifest. 50% of the physical transformation happens through meditated conviction.

Can you share another success story?

Yes. I had a client who was the CEO of a tech business: he could never understand why he couldn’t lose weight. By having an open dialogue with himself, he said it helped him tap into the part of his brain that sometimes falls asleep. He lost 15kg in 12 weeks!
