PK Sreemathi: First Keralite to be president of AIDWA

Former Kerala Health Minister P. K. Sreemathi was elected as the new president of the CPI-M backed All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) at the 13th national conference that concludes here later in the day. Aside from former State Minister Susheela Gopalan, Sreemathi, a former Lok Sabha member from Kannur, is the first Keralite to hold the position of president of AIDWA. Other representatives from Kerala include former State Health Minister and current CPI-M lawmaker K. K. Shailaja, former members of the Lok Sabha who are currently serving as the chairperson of the Kerala State Women's Commission P. Sathidevi and Susan Koshy, P.K. Sainaba, and C.S. Sujatha and N. Sukanya.
