According to a review of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) air quality statistics by the NCAP (National Clean Air Programme) tracker, Delhi remained the most polluted city in the nation in 2022 with an annual average PM 2.5 concentration of 99.7 ug/m3, far higher than the standard set by the CPCB of 40 ug/m3. The analysis has however revealed that PM 2.5 levels in the city has shown a 7% improvement from 108 ug/m3 in 2019. The report, which was made public on Tuesday to commemorate four years since the Center first introduced the NCAP, revealed that several of the most polluted non-attainment cities in 2019 have only slightly reduced their PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels while still failing to meet CPCB criteria.
