The Gujarat High Court has taken up the matter of the Sabarmati River's dirty water. The Gujarat government has been ordered by the court to take note of the situation and take quick action. The matter was brought to light by Hemang Shah, who gathered samples from the contaminated river and presented them before the judge.
He said, “Earlier we had brought samples of the river, after which the court was shocked to see such polluted water. Later, we took readings of the river and the court said such polluted water cannot be tolerated.” Shah said that it is not just about the Sabarmati River, adding that the water of Sabarmati reaches the Arabian Sea and if affects other rivers as well.
