The Mexican government reported last Friday that a raid to apprehend a son of imprisoned drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman resulted in the deaths of ten soldiers and 19 suspected criminals, with a dramatic shootout spreading fear at an airport. After enraged gunmen went on the rampage to try to liberate their boss, thousands of militaries retook control of Culiacan, the Sinaloa cartel stronghold that resembled a war zone.Ovidio Guzman was captured in the northwestern city and flown to Mexico City before being transferred to the high-security Altiplano prison in central Mexico from which "El Chapo" once escaped. The 32-year-old, known as "El Raton" (The Mouse), is accused of assisting his father in managing the business ever since the former head of the Sinaloa cartel was deported to the United States in 2017.
